Popular music today

There have been many songs that have come out in this last year that are making references to fighting, and violent types of things. This was also shown in an article that we read, that mentioned the killings of certain rappers, how covers on albums have showed violence. Certain types of rap artists seem to be rapping more and more about gang violence, and violence in general. I feel that this is contributing to more teenage kids thinking they are "gangster" and becoming more associated in groups, and thinking that gangs, and violence are more common, so that in their head makes it a little more okay. I also feel that music such as rap is making men think that it is okay to use women, or have multiple women. So men look up to these artists and do the same as them, and what they are rapping about.

  1. Honestly, I can't think of any popular rappers who are openly involved with a specific gang. Back when people knew who 50 Cent was it was definitely the thing to do and was a hot topic in the media. Now, it seems they pretty much just stick to drugs and sex more than violence.

  2. Which do you think is worse--the treatment of women or the glorification of violence? Or are these two things essentially two sides of the same coin?

  3. I personally think that the treatment of women is worse, but at the same time believe that the glorification of violence is not good either. so they could be put on the same side of a coin to me. This could however vary greatly if a person were to think of this and be someone who was a victim of violence.
