Media Violence

Different parts of the world/society view the effects of media violence differently than others. In the video it said that most of the violence occurs from boys/men. They are doing the act of violence to other boys/men. Masculinity can be related to this in that some men think that in order to be masculine they need to fight or create some sort of pain upon another male or female. Media violence is known as something that plays apart in every ones life. Parents prefer that their kids do not watch it, it has been taken to higher people, however nothing has been passed that says it will go into effect. The reason of this being that there is so much media violence, on the TV and computer that the government could not block out all of it. The relationship between violence and masculinity is something to watch out for, i feel that the two of these are becoming more common in our society. However violence can come from thousands of things, and only becoming apparent in masculinity. So i am unsure about how i feel with violence and masculinity

  1. I agree with you that we need to watch out for the up coming results of the media and violence. A lot of parents don't realize how much the media has changed, and what could come out of it!

  2. Another reason why nothing can be passed banning violence is because they must first define violence. Do you think there could ever be a clear-cut definition that could put a law into effect?

  3. I do think that there could be a true definition of violence perhaps have many different options, and take a world wide vote. See which is the most common way that people define it and make it a law. However this to some people would be bad, because they like the shows. It would also be challenging and take a lot of time to produce shows, and decide for the stations or television programmer if that show/movie or etc is truley considered to be violent. So even though i do think that there is a way to have a true definition i think that it would take entirely to much away from the producers and time away from the stations on how to judge if it is or is not violent or not.
