Hip-hop and country
The similarities i see between hip-hop and country are the way both types evolve. Country used to be considered one way, but we no longer consider that what modern day country. The same goes for hip-hop and all other genres of music. They are different in the types of crowds they bring in, and they types of beats of music. The focus of hip-hop and country are also different. They do not sing or rap about the same topics. Country is more about cowboys, pain, love, etc. where as hip hop to me is usually about some sort of unrealistic thing, such as going to jail, beating someone up, etc. They sing about some things that they have never experienced, though i know country is the same in that aspect, i feel that hip-hop is more common with this.

You say that country used to be one way, but it is no longer that way. What are the characteristics that you associate with this older country? Are they different than the subject matters you list here?
ReplyDeleteThe same subjects appear in country such as pain, love, and cowboys. But the way that they were done, or that people sang about were different i think. I think that they used to sing about them in a real western type of way, where as now you could probably find three different songs with the same tune just a little bit different in a few varying notes. The characteristics have changed in the way you see the music video also, like smoking cowboys is not something you typically see anymore, or riding horses through a farm like setting or twon that you hook the horse to the post outside of places. It is more modernized and focused on what the singer is singing about.
